Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.
Mr. Claggett, presented the petition of certain citizens of
Washington county, for the reduction of tolls on the Hagers-
town and Leitersburg Turnpike Company to the rates al-
lowed by the original charter.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Claggett, Stephenson and Fields.
Also,
The petition of the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown to
authorize them to appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars
to aid and assist the Fire Department, of Hagerstown, in the
purchase of a Hook and Ladder apparatus.
Which was read and referred to the same Committee.
Mr. Spencer, presented the petition of C. H. Davis. and
ninety others, asking for the repeal of the sections of the Oys-
ter law which requires tongers to take out a license.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.
On motion by Mr. Longwell,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Longwell, Claggett and
Spates to report a bill, entitled an Act to'' amend an Act, en-
titled an Act to incorporate the Western Maryland Extension
Railroad Company, passed at January Session, 1870.
Mr. Henry from a Select Committee, to which leave had
been granted, reported
A bill, entitled an Act to revive, re-enact and amend cer-
tain sections of the Act passed at January Session, 1852,
chapter 316, relating to the burning of the Court-house in
Dorchester county.
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of one hundred
and tour citizens of Baltimore and Harford counties, asking
such Legislation as will compel the Baltimore and Harford
Turnpike Company to place their road in a good and sate
condition for travel.
Which was read and referred to the Committee heretofore
appointed on that subject.
On motion by Mr. Dennis,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill, emitted an Act to incorporate the town of Crisfield, Somerset county, Md.
