206 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 13, Also, Leave was granted to the Committee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries, to report a bill, entitled an Act to protect the harbor of Crisfield, on the Little Annamessex River, Somerset county. On motion by Mr. Tuck, it was Ordered, That the Committee on Finance inquire into the expediency of so amending; the Code of Public General Laws, Article LXXXI, title "Revenue and Taxes," so as to provide for reducing the assessment of real property, where the improvements have been destroyed and not rebuilt. Mr. Blake, from a Select Committee, to which leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an, Act to repeal section 212, of Article IV., of the Public Local Laws of the City of Baltimore, enti- tled "Elections," and to re-enact the same with amendments. Which was read the first time. On motion by Mr. Claggett, Leave was granted to the Committee heretofore appointed, to introduce a bill to authorize the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown, to appropriate $500 for the purchase of a hook and ladder apparatus. On motion by Mr. Tuck, Leave was granted to Messrs. Tuck, Steiner and Spencer, to report a bill, entitled an Act to protect the graves of former members of the Legislature, whose remains are deposited in the Annapolis Cemetery. On motion by Mr. Blake, it was Ordered, That the Committee on Public Buildings, be authorized to have a suitable drawing made for a portico for the State House ; provided, said drawing shall not cost over $30. On motion by Mr. Claggett, Leave was granted to the Committee heretofore appointed, to introduce a bill, to repeal a supplement to an Act passed March 26th, 1865, chapter 200, entitled an Act to incorpor- ate a company to make a turnpike road from Hagerstown, in Washington county, to the Pennsylvania line, and to re- enact the second section of an Act passed May 10th, 1847, entitled an "Act to incorporate a company to make a turnpike road from Hagerstown, in Washington county, to the Pennsylvania line." On motion by Mr. Compton, The Senate adjourned. |
