incorporating said Company, and re-enact the same with
amendments, and further to amend the charter of said Com-
pany,
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments."
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Section 6. And be it enacted, That if the work upon the
said railroad shall not be commenced within nine months
after the passage of this Act, and shall not be finished by
January 1st, 1873, then this Act shall be null and void.
Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the date of its passage.
Section 10, line 7, strike out all after the word "Com-
pany," and insert the following :
Provided, That the said Union Railroad Company shall
not charge for the use of the road a sum exceeding the rate
of five cents per ton per mile for tolls for use of said road for
every mile, or proportionate part of a mile, and for passen-
gers a sum not exceeding the rate of ten cents per passenger
per mile, or proportionate part of a mile, for each passenger.
