this State or elsewhere may subscribe for the stock
of said company; and in case the said subscription
shall exceed the amount required, the Commis-
sioners shall regulate the same in such manner as
to effect a just apportionment of said stock among
the subscribers.

 

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That at the time of
making the subscription to the capital slock here-
inbefore mentioned, there shall be paid to the
said Commissioners on each share one dollar, and
the residue thereof at such times and in such
manner as shall be prescribed by the President
and Directors of the company hereinafter incor-
porated.

Manner of
subscribing.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That whenever two
hundred shares of the said stock shall have been
subscribed, then the said subscribers as stockhold-
ers shall be and they are hereby declared to be a
body politic and corporate, by the name of the Kent
Island Narrows Bridge and Navigation Company,
for the purpose of erecting a brilge over the Kent
Island Narrows in Queen Anne's County, and for
removing obstructions from, and cutting and deep-
ening of said Narrows, so as to admit of the pas-
sage of steamboats, vessels and other river craft
through the same, and by that name shall have
perpetual succession, and have and use a common
seal, and may sue [and] and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, answer and be answered unto, in any
court of law or equity in the State.

When incor-
porated.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That when the said
number of shares shall have been subscribed, the
said Commissioners, or a majority of them, shall
call a general meeting of the subscribers, to be
held in Queenstown or Stevensville, and such of
the subscribers as shall be present at the said
meeting, provided they represent a majority of the
stock subscribed for, shall be and they are hereby
empowed to elect a President and seven Directors,
to manage the affairs of said Company for two
years, and until a new election of President and
Directors shall be had in the manner directed by
the by-laws of said Company as hereinafter pro-
vided to be made.

Sec. 6. And be it enacted, That the said Presi-
dent and Directors shall have power, and they are
