CHAPTER 464.

AN ACT to incorporate the Kent Island Narrows
Bridge and Navigation Company, and to repeal
an Act passed January twenty-first, eighteen
hundred and twenty, entitled " An Act to erect
a bridge over the Narrows of Kent Island, in
Queen Anne's County," and the supplements
thereto, so far as the same may be necessary to
carry into effect the provisions of this law.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General As-
sembly of Maryland that the convenience of the
public would be greatly promoted, and the interest
of trade, travel and commerce between the Eastern
Shore of Maryland and Baltimore City would be
greatly advanced by erecting a bridge over Kent
Island Narrows, in Queen Anne's County, and by
removing obstructions from and deepening of the
said Narrows, so as to admit of the passage of
steamboats, vessels, and other river craft through
the same; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That George B. Goldsborough, Ed-
ward Loyd, Edward T. Leonard, Ormand Ham-
mond and Edward L. F. Hardcastle, of Talbot
County, and Alexander W. Thompson, Richard B.
Carmichael, Walter R. White, Edward Bryan and
John B. Brown, of Queen Anne's County, be and
they are hereby appointed Commissioners, and
they, or a majority of them, shall cause books to

be opened at such times and places as they may
deem advisable, for the purpose of receiving sub-
scriptions to the capital stock of the company here-
inafter incorporated, notice having been given as
the said Commissioners may deem expedient of the
times and places of opening said books, and to con-
tinue the said books opened from time to time, so
long, and as often as they shall find necessary to
complete said subscription.

Capital stock.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock
of said company shall not exceed the sum of fifty
thousand dollars [dollars], in shares of twenty-five
dollars each, and any corporation or individual in
