for transportation over the Washington Branch of the said
road.

Which was read the first time, referred to the Committee
on Finance, and ordered to be printed.

On motion by Mr. Carroll,

The Senate then proceeded to the consideration of the Joint
Besolutions introduced by him to release the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad Company from the payment of one-fifth of the
gross receipts on the Washington Branch of said road, upon
the payment of all arrearages due the State by virtue of the
Act of 1832, chapter 175.

Said Resolutions were then read the second time, and

On motion by Mr. Fields,
Referred to the Committee on Finance.
On motion by Mr. Grove, it was

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that if the Sen-
ator from Washington county had been in the Senate at the
time the vote was taken on the House Resolutions, affecting,
by scire facias, the charter of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-
road, he would have voted for the report of the Chairman of
of the Committee on Finance.

On motion by Mr. Snyder,

The Joint Resolutions introduced by Mr. Stephenson in
relation to the claim of the State against the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad, were referred to the Committee on Finance.

On motion by Mr. Miller,

The Joint Resolution introduced by him in relation to the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company was referred to the
Committee on Finance.

On motion by Mr. Earle, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Finance be enlarged by
the addition of two members to the present number, and that
three members shall constitute a quorum.

The Chair appointed as the additional members of said
Committee, Senators Snyder and Malone.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following
message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

March 16,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
to hold a Joint Assembly of the two Houses, at eight o'clock
