On motion by Mr. Kimmel, Leave of absence was granted to the Senator from Washing-
ton county until Monday next. Mr. Kimmel submitted the following message : BY THE SENATE, March 16,1870.
Gentlemen of the. House of Delegates, Wo have received your message proposing a Joint Assembly
of the two Houses at eight o'clock this evening, to meet the
Commissioners of Fisheries of the State of New York, who
will there, by invitation of the General Assembly, lecture
upon the subject of the culture and preservation of Fish, and
concur therein.

Secretary. Mr. Fields moved that the Senate proceed to the considera-
tion of an Act to repeal the Acts of 1867 and 1868, relating
to Pensions.
Mr. Fields withdrew his motion.
On motion by Mr. Miller, Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill relating to the sale of burning fluids
in this State. On motion by Mr. Timmons, it was Ordered, That the Finance Committee be directed to report
(if they deem it expedient,) a bill to raise a sum of money by
tax, or some other mode, to supply the deficiency which will
be created in the Treasury of Maryland by the non-payment
of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company the money due
the State, as ascertained, to be due by the returns of the
President of said road to the Comptroller for 1870 and 1871.
On motion by Mr. Kimmel, The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the amend-
ment to the charter of the Union Railroad Company.
The question being on the passage of the bill,
Mr. Malone moved that said bill be postponed until Mon-
day.
