ment. Said bill was then read the second time. Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Elkton and
Massey's Railroad Company, reported it with the following
amendments: AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. First amendment—Strike out all after the word "pur-
poses," in the 47th line of section 14, to the word "and" in
the 50th line of said section. Second amendment—Strike out that part of the 17th sec-
tion after the word "railroads," in the 8th line, and add in
lieu thereof the following words: Charges at rates not ex-
ceeding ten cents per ton of property, or. five cents per pas-
senger for each and every mile of transportation, but for any
distance twenty-five cents may be charged for a passenger or
for any quantity of freight. Third amendment—Strike out all of the 20th section after
the word "shares," in the 6th line. Which were severally read and adopted.
Said bill was then read the second time. Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to incorporate the German Fire
Insurance and Real Estate Company of Baltimore, reported
it with the following amendments : AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. Section 1—Strike out all after the word "the" in line 9,
section 1, to the word. "Company" in line 1.0, and insert
the words : United German Real Estate and Fire Insurance. Amend the title—Strike out all after the word "the" in
line I, to the word "estate" inclusive, and insect the words :
"United German Real Estate and Fire Insurance." Which were severally read and adopted.
The sections as amended were then read and adopte.
Said bill was then read the second time. Mr. Fields, from the Select Committee, to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to authorize and
empower the County Commissioners of Caroline county, to
make the sale of a part of the land belonging to the Alms-
house property of said county.
