Which was read the first time and ordered to be printed.

Mr. Clarke, from the Select Committee to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to repeal section
3, of an Act passed March 31, 1867, chapter 329, entitled
an Act to provide for the selection, drawing and summoning
of jurors in the several counties, and prescribing their quali-
fications, and also section 2, of an Act passed and approved
March 30th, 1868, chapter 316, &c.

Which was read the first time.
On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Said bill was referred to the Committee on Judicial Pro-
ceedings.

Mr. Timmons, from the Select Committee to whom was
referred the Senate bill entitled an Act to regulate the sale
by common carriers of unclaimed freights to pay the charges
due thereon, reported it with the following amendments :

Amend by inserting the following as the third section,
and when any common carrier doing business as aforesaid,
shall have on hand any goods, wares or merchandize or pro-
perty, such as poultry, eggs, oysters, clams, potatoes, fruit
or other perishable articles over 48 hours, the agent of such
common carrier shall cause to be sold by some responsible
commission merchant the articles unclaimed, and after deduct-
ing commissions, &c., he shall pay over the surplus to the
said agent, and the company shall be responsible to the
shipper for the net proceeds.

Amend by inserting in the 3rd line, after the words "or
property," the following words, (except what is considered
perishable.)

Which were read and adopted.
The sections as amended, were then read and adopted.
Mr. Miller submitted the following amendment :

Amend by striking out the words "of the said surplus' 'in
line 10th, of the 2nd section.

Which was read and adopted.
The section as amended, was then read and adopted.

Said bill was then read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Miller,
Said bill was ordered to be printed.
The Senate bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
