1038 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 26,

Mr. Watkins, (by unanimous consent,) submitted the fol-
lowing amendment:

Add to section 16 : Provided, no railroad constructed un-
der the provisions of this charter shall cross, the bed of other
railroads previously built, without the consent of the Com-
pany of the latter, but shall cross above or below the grade
of said railroad, so as not to obstruct or interfere with the
regular running of said railroad.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Morse, Chairman of a Select Committee, (the rules
being suspended,) submitted the following

REPORT.
Hon. F. C. Latrobe, Speaker of the House of Delegates:

SIR :—The Committee appointed by your Honorable
Body to wait on the officers of the Annapolis and Elkridge
Railroad Company, have performed the duty assigned them,
and ask leave to report as follows :

Mr. Nicholson, who holds the position 'of Secretary as well
as Director in the aforesaid Company, informed your Com-
mittee that an extra train was at the disposal of this body at
any time it might think proper to designate.

Provided, however, that a guarantee of twenty-five dollars
be placed in the hands of the aforesaid Company, said guar-
antee to consist of twenty-five dollars in cash paid down.

Submitting the matter to the House for its acceptance or
rejection, your Committee ask to be discharged from further
consideration of the subject.

Which was read.

Mr. Veitch moved that the vote by which the amendment
was adopted striking out all after the end of line 8, section
18, to the end of the section, be reconsidered.

Mr. Ritter moved that the bill be ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

Pending the consideration whereof,
On motion of Mr. McLane,

At 2 1/4 o'clock P. M., the House adjourned until Monday
morning at 10 o'clock.
