The bill entitled an Act entitled a supplement to an Act
passed January session, 1856, chapter 146, entitled an Act to
incorporate the Gilmor House Company,

Was read a second time and ordered to he engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled a supplement to the Act passed by the
General Assembly of Maryland at January session, 1860,
entitled an Act to incorporate a company to build a turnpike
road from Libertytown, in Frederick county, to intersect the
Woodsborough and Frederick turnpike road at or near the
Monocacy bridge, and as a supplement passed at January
session, 1867, of the General Assembly of Maryland, chap-
ter 230,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of the Cum-
berland and Pennsylvania Rail Road Company, passed at
January session, 1849, chapter 469,

Was read a second time and ordered to he printed.

The hour of 12 o'clock, M., having arrived, in pursuance
with the adjournment of yesterday, and in conformity with
the Act of Congress chapter 245, entitled "an Act to regu-
late the times and manner of holding elections for Senators in
Congress," the Senators of Maryland appeared in the hall of
the House, and the two bodies, conjointly, proceeded to hold
an election for Senator to succeed the Hon. Reverdy Johnson
in the Congress of the United States.

The roll of Senators and Members of the House of Dele-
gates being called, it appeared by a viva voce vote of each
Senator and Member present, (a majority of all the Members
elected to both Houses being present and voting,) that

Whereupon, it appearing that the Hon William T. Hamil-
ton had received a majority of all the votes cast, (a ma-
jority of all the members elected to both Houses being pres-
ent and voting,) the Chairman declared the Hon. William
T. Hamilton duly elected Senator of the United States for
the term of six years from the 4th day of March, 1869.
The Secretary of the Senate returned the bill entitled an
Act to amend the fourth section of the Act of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at the January session, 1884,
chapter 29, entitled an Act to repeal the twelfth section of an
Act to incorporate the Kent county Rail Road Company,
passed on the 8th day of March, 1856, chapter 148, to add
