On motion of Mr. Clark,

Leave was granted to Select Committee, Messrs. Clark,
Worthington and Riggs, to report a bill entitled " an Act
to incorporate the Montgomery, Howard and Carroll Rail
Road Company."

On motion of Mr. Wentz,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Wentz, Loker, Chapman,
Williams, Offutt, Dalrymple,Deale, Biddison, Nelson, Davis,
of Cecil, Beck, Sudler, Lowe, Hubbard, Johnson, Horsey,
Hopkinsand Holloway, to introduce a hill for the protection
of water fowl on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
reported favorably a bill entitled an Act to repeal Sections 22
and 24, of Article 61, of the Code of Public General Laws,
and enact the following in lieu thereof:

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judi-
ciary, reported unfavorably a bill entitled an Act to repeal
the second section of the General Assembly of Maryland,
1862, chapter 82, relating to Crimes and Punishments, and
to substitute in lieu thereof the following :

The report was concurred in.

Mr. Smith, of Worcester, Chairman of the Committee on
Printing, reported favorably a bill entitled an Act to estab-
lish at the city of Annapolis a State Printing Office,

Which was read a first time.

The bill entitled an Act to provide for the better protec-
tion of partridges in Washington county,

Being upon a second reading.

Mr. Coudy submitted the following amendment:

Section second, line three, strike out the word " five,"
and insert the word " ten,"

Which was adopted.

The bill as amended,

Was then read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to make valid certain official acts
of John Miller as a Justice of the Peace of the State of
Maryland, in and for Somerset county,

Was read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the location of a pub-
lic road in Frederick and Carroll counties,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county to levy and
refund a certain sum of money to Samuel Redgraves for coun-
ty and school taxes erroneously paid,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.
