Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means
to introduce a bill to provide for the liquidation and settle-
ment of claims, for arming and equipping the militia.
On motion of Mr. Jones,

(The rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to Messrs. Jones, Clark and Slingluff,
to introduce a bill to amend the charter of the Elysville
Turnpike Company.

On motion of Mr. Wentz,
(The rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to authorize the courts of
this State to decree the sale of land in certain cases where
infants and non-residents are interested.

On motion of Mr. Pentland,

(The rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
Introduce a bill to repeal sections 1, 37, 38, 39, 40 and 42.
of Laws of Maryland, passed January session, 1867, entitled
an Act to repeal the 37th. 38th, 39th and 40th sections of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled Licenses.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Delaware Rail
Pioad Company to extend a branch railroad across the State
line into Kent county, Maryland,

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Mullin moved that the further consideration thererof
be postponed, and the bill made the order of the clay
for Thursday next, the 6th of February.

Decided in the negative.

The Bill was then read a second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to ratify the proceedings
of the Sheriff and Constahles of Somerset and Worcester
counties upon executions issued to them prior to the forma-
tion of Wicomico county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the

day,

The House resumed the consideration of the bill entitled
an Act to amend Article 60 of the Code of Public General
Laws, by adding thereto an additional section, relating to the
marriages of people of color.
