Said bill being upon a second reading,

On motion of Mr. Bond, of Baltimore city,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill made the order of the day for Friday next, the 7th of
February.

On motion of Mr. Legg,

The vote by which the further consideration of the hill
was postponed,

Was reconsidered.

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

The House then resumed the consideration of the second
order of the day,

Being the joint resolution in relation to Governor Swarm's
statement, in his Message, of services rendered to the State
of Maryland by the Hon. Secretary of the Navy.

Said resolutions being upon a second reading.

The question recurring upon the amendment submitted by
Mr. Stewart, of Dorchester,

The amendment was adopted.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, submitted the following
amendment as a substitute :

Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
their thanks are due, and are hereby tendered the General
Government, for transportation facilities furnished the agents
of this State, for the distribution of the one hundred thou-
sand dollars appropriated by the last Legislature for the
relief of the people of the South.

Which was rejected.

The resolutions, as amended,

Were then read a second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Comptroller and.
Treasurer, when ascertaining the amount of paid up sub-
scriptions to the capital stock of the Queen Anne's and Kent
Rail Road Company, to estimate the bonds of Queen Anne's
county as cash, at a specified rate per cent.,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money
