The bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.

House bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Broadway
and Locust Point Steam Ferry Company of Maryland,

Being on its third reading,
Mr. Kimmel offered the following amendments :

Section —line 12, strike out all after the word law to
the end of the section.

Amend by adding at the end of section 2, as follows :

And the said Company are hereby authorized and em-
powered to hold and use as a wharf or landing for the use of
said Ferry, the end of the wharf commonly known as the
" County Wharf," together with a right of way, in common
with others, through the centre of the said wharf of the
width of ten feet, as a thoroughfare for travel to and from
the end of said wharf, upon the condition that the aforesaid
Company, within one year from the date of the passage of
this Act, shall construct the said wharf so as to extend, with
its present width, at least fifty feet beyond its present
terminus, or to the Port Warden's line, and all the costs and
expenses of the said extension, together with the costs and
expenses of keeping the entire wharf in good condition and
repair hereafter, shall be paid and satisfied by the said Com-
pany ; Provided, That if the aforesaid Company shall fail
to have the said wharf extended in the manner aforesaid,
within one year after the passage of this Act, then in that
case the said Company shall not be entitled to use the end or
any part of said wharf as a landing for their ferry-boats,
nor to use the centre as above described for a thoroughfare
for travel ; and all the remainder of the borders, sides, and
surface of the said wharf, except the end and right of way
granted upon the conditions aforesaid, shall be, and the
same is hereby, reserved exclusively for the landing of such.
fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products as may
be brought from the counties to the city of Baltimore for sale
or otherwise.

Which amendments were adopted.
Mr. Henkle offered the following amendment :
Amend title of bill by adding

And to grant on certain conditions the right to use the
wharf known as the County Wharf.

Which was adopted,

And the bill as amended was then passed by yeas and nays.
