Mr. Maddox, from a select committee, reported Senate bill
entitled an Act to repeal sections 3, 9, 16, 17 and 87 of
Article 73, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to
the Maryland Penitentiary, and to substitute in lieu of sec-
tions 3, 9,16, 17, and 87, the following.

Which was read the first time.

Senate bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
passed January session, 1866, chapter 55, entitled an Act to
incorporate the Baltimore and Liberty Turnpike Road Com-
pany in Carroll county, and to amend the title of said Act of
1866, chapter 55, and to authorize the County Commission-
ers of Frederick County to subscribe to the capital stock of
said company,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Monrovia
and Liberty Town Turnpike Road Company,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing bills:

A bill entitled an Act to incorporate a company to con-
struct a turnpike or gravel road from Cearfoss' Cross Roads,
in Washington county, through or near Fairview, to the,
Pennsylvania line.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

A bill entitled an AcT appropriating the sums of money
therein mentioned to pay the claims of Plummer & Usilton,
Wm. H. Councill, E. E. Ewing, E. F. Perkins, Dr. Mont-
gomery Johns, Samuel L. Geisinger, John T. Watkins,
Edwin M. Shipley, Samuel Smith and George W. Mur-
dock.

Was read the first time and referred to the Committee on
Finance.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany county to improve a road running from
Green ridge on the National Turnpike to Twiggs Lock, on
the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

A Bill entitled an Act to repeal section 23 of the 1st Ar-
ticle of the Code of Public Local Laws and re-enact the
same with amendments.
