Mr. Earle presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Queen Anne's county.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education.
On motion hy Mr. Clarke, it was

Ordered, That the Comptroller be, and he is hereby re-
quested to furnish to the Senate the following information :

1st. The date of the creation of the tobacco fund.
2d. For what purpose was the tobacco fund created.

3d. Amount of loan to said fund, whether to he paid from
a general tax or exclusively from a tax on the tobacco in-
terest.

4th. Whether additional loans have been made to said
fund; if so, the amount of the same ; whether a tobacco
sinking fund was created for the redemption of said loan or
loans.

5th. Whether an account of said sinking fund has heen
kept separately ; if so, the amount of said fund ; if not kept
separate, how, when and why it was merged, and at what
date it ceased to he kept separate.

6th. Whether rents arising from State wharves belonging
to tobacco warehouses, have been credited to tobacco fund.

7th. Present condition of tobacco fund, after charging it
with amount of loan or loans, and interest on the same, and
crediting it with net receipts from tobacco warehouses, to-
gether with the amount of the tobacco sinking fund at this
date.

On motion hy Mr. Henkle,

The vote hy which the above order was adopted,
Was reconsidered, and
Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment:

Amend by adding : "and that the said information be
furnished at the earliest convenient period."

Which was adopted, and

The order was then adopted as amended.

Mr. Smith, from a select committee, reported Senate bill
entitled a supplement to the Act passed at January session,
1866, chapter 52, entitled an Act to incorporate the Dor-
chester and Delaware Rail Road Company, and to direct the
payment to said company of the sum of money pledged by
the Act passed at January session, 1860, chapter 303, to
works of internal improvement in Dorchester county.
