Which was read, and

On motion by Mr. Stirling,
Ordered to lie on the table.

The committee appointed to wait on the Honorable John
W. Garrett, President of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road
Company, and the Honorable Thomas G. Pratt, Counsel of
the Baltimore and Potomac Rail Road Company, and advitc
them to address the Senate, reported that they had performed
that duty, and that those gentlemen would appear in a few
moments and address the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,
The Senate resolved itself into the Committe of the Whole.

The Hon. John W. Garrett then addressed the Committee
on behalf of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road; and

The Hon. Thomas G. Pratt, in reply, on behalf of the Balti-
more and Potomac Rail Road.
The Committee rose, and

On motion by Mr. Spates,
The Senate adjourned until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, M.

FRIDAY, February 15, 1867.

The President presented to the Senate the following commu-
nication from Hanson P. Jordan, Esquire, State Librarian, in
response to an order of the Senate 'of the 4th instant;

STATE LIBRARY,

ANNAPOLIS, Feb'y 15th, 1867.
To the Honorable, the President and

Members of the Senate of Maryland :

GENTLEMEN:—In obedience to your order of the 4th inst.,
I employed Mr. Durtor, an architect and practical house
builder, to make a draft, and estimate the probable cost of
enlarging the State Library.
