Mr. Durfor estimates the probable cost of the enlargement
at $9,500, without the alcoves.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Also, a petition of "Workingmen" of Baltimore ^ity, ask-
ing a modification of the Sunday law.

Proceedings.

Mr. Bowie presented the memorial of 200 citizens of Prince
George's, Montgomery, Anne Arundel and Howard counties,
praying the General Assembly to take some action towards
repairing the Baltimore and Washington Turnpike, which
has been condemned by the courts of the State ;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Philpot, Holton
and Bowie.

Mr. Bowie presented the memorial of 130 operatives in the
Laurel Factory, Prince George's county, praying the General
Assembly to re-enact a law making ten hours the day's la-
bor ;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Maddox presented the petition of the President and
Managers of the Protestant Union Assylum ;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Maddox, Comp-
ton and Mules.

Mr. Mules presented the petition of Hamilton Easter, J. H.
B. Latrobe, Franklin Wilson and sundry other citizens of
Baltimore, praying your Honorable Body to enact a law for
the protection of property holders in west Baltimore, from
the creation of nuisances in that section of said city;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Mules presented the memorial of seventy-four mer-
chants and citizens of Baltimore, praying the General Assem-
bly to repeal the obnoxious Sunday law;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
