On motion of Mr. Stevens,
Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill to repeal sub-section 2 of section 5 enacted as part
of the 5th sac. of Art. 37 of the Code of Public General Laws re-
lating to the competency of witnesses, by the Act of 1864,
chapter 109, and to re-enact another provision in lieu of said
sub-section 2 so repealed.
Also, leave was granted the Howard and Anne Arundel
Delegations to report a bill to appropriate a sum of money
for the erection and support of a High School in Howard
county.
Mr. Boswell from Committee on Corporations reported
favorably a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Woodstock
College of Baltimore county;
Which was read a first time.
Also, the Senate bill entitled, an Act for incorporating the
Andrew Small Academy of Darnestown Montgomery county,
Maryland;
Also, the Senate bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the
Westminster Gas Light Company;.
Also, the Senate bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the
trustees of the .vlethodist Protestant Sunday School of Chester-
town, and to authorize them to hold real and personal estate;
Which were severally read a second time.
Mr. Jones from the Committee on Judiciary, reported favor-
ably the bill without amendment entitled, an Act to provide
for the restoration of the Records, Indexes, Dockets and Pa-
pers destroyed or injured by fire, or in the office of the clerk
of the Circuit Court for Baltimore county;
Mr. Thomas, Chairman of Committee on Ways and Means
reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections
37, 38, 39 and 40, of Article 56, of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, entitled, "Licenses" and to re-enact the same with
amendments;
Which was read a first time.
Also, unfavorably upon the bill entitled, an Act for the re-
lief of the securities on the official bond of John W. Walker,
late Notary Public of the city of Baltimore;

Mr. Nelson from Committee on Agriculture, reported back
to the House the petition of Elisha Swomby and other citizens
of Frederick county, as to freight charges on the Baltimore
