Mr. Stephenson submitted the following amendment:
Section 2, line 14, after the word "shares," strike out all
to the word "and," in the 15th line, and insert "by striking
off in succession from the largest subscriptions until the sub-
scriptions are reduced to two thousand shares, or all the sub-
scriptions are reduced to one share, and if there still be an
excess, then lots shall be drawn by the Commissioners who
shall be excluded;"
Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment to the
amendment:
Strike out in line 14, after the word "steamer," to the
word "and," in line 15, and insert "by a proportionate abate-
ment from the amount held by each subscriber;"
Which was read and adopted.
Mr. Clarke submitted the following amendment:
In line 7, strike out "two," and insert "thirty;"
Which was read and adopted.
Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment:
Strike out in line 9, all after the word "corporation," and
insert "it may require one fifth of each share to be paid in at
the time of subscription, one fifth thereof in ninety days and
the balance thereof in such installments and at such times as
the President and Directors may determine;"
Which was read and adopted.
Mr. Tome submitted the following amendment:
In section 4, line 5, strike out "'five," and insert "six;"
Which was read.
Mr. Eaton submitted the following amendment to the
amendment:
Insert "eight with the President;"
Which was read and determined in the negative.
Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment to the
amendment:
Strike out the word "five," in line 8, and insert "eight
managers, all of whom. shall be bona fide residents of the
State of Maryland, four of whom with the President shall
constitute a quorum for the transaction of business;"
Which was read and adopted.
