similar committees have been organized in Wicomico and Worcester,
with more than 100 employer members in Wicomico. All of us applaud
when busy business executives take time away from their work and
devote their energies to finding employment for handicapped men and
women.

The committees which are in operation here have been of great
assistance to the Vocational Rehabilitation staff and the Employment
Service staff in finding employment for these handicapped persons.
Employees of the Maryland State Employment Service have worked
hard to make the employer committees succeed. Oren Harrison, field
supervisor, has stimulated interest in the programs and made it pos-
sible for the managers to devote the necessary time to them. Managers
Dave Rittenhouse, of Elkton; Gene Wilson, of Salisbury, and Prentiss
Miles, of Snow Hill are to be commended for their splendid leadership.
Bob Rogers, of Salisbury, has worked hard for the Wicomico commit-
tee. Cooperative and intelligent leadership in the program for the
handicapped has been displayed by Managers Ben Stewart, of Easton;
Charles Wheatley, of Chestertown; Fred Pritchett, of Cambridge, and
Elwath Tawes, of Crisfield. Frank Tarbutton and Jack Nichols have
provided leadership for Vocational Rehabilitation counselors on the
Shore. Ray Simmons was an original "spark plug" for this work before
moving on to the Vocational Rehabilitation administrative office. Bob
Phoebus and Robert Davis have played major roles in the organization
of employer committees.

ployment for them. I am informed that in increasing numbers em-
ployers on the Shore are becoming aware of the tremendous help
trained handicapped workers can be to them. There are many com-
panies and institutions that give handicapped workers a chance when
they have jobs to fill.

The following companies, according to our Maryland State Employ-
ment Service, have made outstanding records of employing handi-
capped workers: Waverly Press, Easton; RMR Corporation, of Elkton;
Charles Gemberling Farms, at Massey; Washington College, Chester-
town, Lehigh Chemical Company, Chestertown; Esskay Poultry,
Cordova; Airpax and Coastal Foods, Cambridge; Dulany Foods, Fruit-
