In October 2025, the General Assembly authorized Maryland's participation in the Soclal Work Licensure Compact Commission (Chapters 9 & 10, Acts of 2025).

A multi-state license issued by a home state in the bachelor's, master's ot clinical category of social will be recognized as valid among the member states of the Soclal Work Licensure Compact.

Each member state is represented on the Commission by one delegate, who is appointed by that member state's licensing authority. In Maryland, the delegate is named by the State Board of Social Work Examiners (Code Health-Occupations Article, sec. 19-3A-01).
