Renamed Major Crimes and Complex Litigation Division in Jan. 2016.

CAPITAL DEFENSE DIVISION
Renamed Aggravated Homicide Division on July 1, 2009.

CHILDREN IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE DIVISION
Renamed Parental Defense Division in Sept. 2017.

CLIENT SERVICES DIVISION
Formed of Baltimore City Public Defender's Office in 1992, Client Services Division originated as Juvenile Client Services Division. It expanded to provide statewide services in 2005. It reformed as Client Services Division in Jan. 2007.

Abolished in 2010.

COLLATERAL REVIEW DIVISION
Renamed Post-Conviction Defenders Division on Sept. 1, 2015.

COMMUNICATIONS
Abolished in Nov. 2009.

DEATH PENALTY DEFENSE UNIT
Renamed Capital Defense Division in 1989.

IMMIGRATION DIVISION
Renamed Criminal Immigration Services in January 2023.

INMATE SERVICES DIVISION
Renamed Collateral Review Division in 1993.

INNOCENCE PROJECT
In Aug. 2009, transferred to Clinical Law Program, University of Baltimore School of Law.

JUVENILE CLIENT SERVICES DIVISION
Renamed Client Services Division in Jan. 2007.

INVESTIGATION DIVISIONS, DISTRICTS 1 & 8
Under District Operations, abolished in Jan. 2012.

LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS
Renamed Government Relations in 2011.

PERSONNEL UNIT
Renamed Human Resources in 2011.

POLICY & DEVELOPMENT
Renamed Resource Development Policy and Public Affairs Division in November 2022.

STRATEGIC PLANNING & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Abolished in Oct. 2015.
