Partner, Cross and Wood Insurance Brokers, 1993-. Owner and operator, Wood's Food Rite, 1962-93. Board of Directors, Mid-Atlantic Food Dealers Association, 1976-83 (president, 1980). Member, Charles County and St. Mary's County Democratic Clubs; Rescue Squad, Mechanicsville Fire Department; Mechanicsville and 7th District Optimist Clubs; Mechanicsville Moose. Legislator Recognition Award, Maryland Association of Counties, 1995. Special Category Hall of Fame Inductee, Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association, 2004. Outstanding Legislator of the Year, Maryland Business for Responsive Government, 2008. William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award, Comptroller of Maryland, 2014. Married; nine children, twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren.
