The following information is offered to TT readers courtesy of Garber Information Services
, by Susan Garber, a long-time MDTAP affiliate... This website was recommended by a recent posting to the Tech Act's bulletin Board. I've tried it out and think it would be very worthwhile for parents of children with disabilities. It is a wonderful resource on special education and the law, with parents and advocates in mind. People can subscribe to the site for notification of updates free of charge by following the subscription info I've copied below.
To either subscribe or unsubscribe, send an email to
At the beginning of your message, insert the following words exactly, with the hyphens, all lowercase -
subscribe special-ed-advocate or unsubscribe special-ed-advocate
Soon after you subscribe, you will receive an automatic, computerized confirmation email that your request "has been forwarded to the owner of the 'special-ed-advocate' list for approval and that it is a closed list." Within a couple of days, you will receive a message confirming that you are a subscriber.
Computer Curriculum Sought
Happy St. Patty's Day to All!
One of our school districts in Maryland would like to know if any one is aware of a "computer curiculum for transistioning-age students with developmental disabilities." They would like to add training in basic computer skills to their employment-readiness activities. They are also interested in hearing of the kinds of job placements that may be available for such students (example using bar code readers to track packages, complete inventories, etc.)
For those of you who want Special Ed info, you may want to sign up for the listserv of the Special-Ed-Advocate by sending an e-mail to majordomo@wrightslaw.com and writing "subscribe special-ed-advocate" in the Message area (without the quotation marks). This listserv is composed of parents, attorneys, and other advocates for special education.
You may also wish to review their website--it's new! See http://www.wrightslaw.com
Many thanks for your assistance,
Susan Garber
