(89 And Now here at this day to wit the Second Tuesday in June afs.d The s.d Jane in Custody of the sheriff Namely Samuel Hanson Gent to the barr here brought in her Proper Person Comes and it being demanded of her ^by the Court here^ wether he be Guilty of the Matter as by the Presentment afs.d above against her it is alledged she the said Jane says that she is in no wise thereof Guilty Yet for that she will not Contend with his Lordship the Lord Propry in his Part Humbly submits herself to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the said Jane be fined one shilling Current money for her offence afs.d by the Court adjudged and that the said Jane be taken &Ca Whereupon into Court here in his Proper Person Came James Freeman of Charles County Joyner & becomes Pledge and Security for the afs.d Jane to Pay the fine afs.d as also the severall fees arisen due to the officers and Ministers of the Court hereby occasion of the Premises
Be it Remembered that heretofore to wit the Second Tuesday in March ^last^ by the oath of fifteen Jurors Namely Thomas Matthews &C.a was Presented Elizabeth Par^a^dise for bearing a bastard Child And now here at this day to wit the Second Tuesday in June afs.d the said Elizabeth in Custo of the sheriff Namely Samuel Hanson Gent she to the barr here brought in her Proper Person Comes and being Demanded of her by the Court here wether she be Guilty of the bastardy afs.d above upon her Imposed she the said Eliz.a says she is thereof Guilty in manner and form as by the Presentment afs.d against her it is alledged Therefore it is Considered that the said Eliz.a be fined or suffer Corporal Punishment according to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in those Cases late made and Provided and for that the said Elizabeth Cannot Pay or Procure any Person to be security for the fine afs.d Payment of the fine afs.d It is ordered the sheriff that he take the said Elizabeth to the Whipping Post and having stripped her Naked from the Waist upwards there give her Twelve Lashes on the bair back for her offence aforesaid And afterwards to wit the same Second Tuesday in June afs.d the sheriff afs.d Returns to the Court here that he hath done Execution of the said Judgment upon the said Elizabeth Whereupon into Court here in his Proper Person Comes Justian Cooksey of Charles County Planter and becomes Pledge Pledge and Security for the afs.d Eliz.a to Pay the severall fees arisen due to the officers and Ministers of the Court hereby occasion of the Premises
Be it Remembered that heretofore to wit the second Tuesday in March last by the oath of fifteen Jurors Namely Thomas Matthews &C.a was Presented James Freeman for a breach of the peace on the body of Alexander Macclaran And Now here at this day to wit the second Tuesday in June aforesaid the said James in Custody of the sheriff Namely Samuel Hanson Gent to the barr here brought in his Proper Person Comes and it being demanded of him by the Court here wether he be Guilty of the matter as by the Presentment afs.d above against him it is alledged he the said James says that he is in no wise thereof Guilty Yet for that he will ^not^ Contend With his Lordship the Lord Propry in this part Humbly submits himself to the Court (Therefore) |
