88) June Court Anno Domini 1747 She is thereof Guilty in manner and form as by the Presentment afs.d above against her it is alledged Therefore it is Considered that the said Jane Minor be fined or suffer Corporal Punishment according to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in those Cases late made and Provided and for that the said Jane Cannot Pay or Procure any Person to be Security for the Payment of the fine afs.d It is ordered the sheriff that he take the said Jane to the Whipping Post and having stripped her Naked from the Waist upwards there give her Twelve Lashes on the bair Back for her offence afs.d And afterwards to wit the same Second Tuesday in June afs.d that [illegible] afs.d returns to the Court here that he hath done Ex.n of the said Judgment upon the said Jane Whereupon Into Court herein his Proper Person Came Thomas William Bryan of Charles County Innholder and became Pledge and Security for the afs.d Jane to Pay the Several fees due to the officers and ministers of the Court here by Occasion of the Premises In considerations whereof and the Trouble of his House &Ca It is adjudged by the Court here that that the said Jane do serve her said Master William Bryan one year & a half after the Expiration of her Time of service Now due
Be it Remembered that ^taken to^ wit the Second Tuesday in March last by the Oath of fifteen Jurors Namely Thomas Matthews &C.a was Presented Alexander Macclaran for a breach of the peace on the body of Jane Freeman And Now here at this day to wit the Second Tuesday in June afs.d the said Alex.r in Custody of the Sheriff Namely Samuel Hanson Gent to the barr here brought in his Proper Person Comes and it being Demand of him by the Court here wether he be Guilty of the Matter as by the Presentment afs.d above against him it is alledged He the s.d Alexander says that he is in no wise thereof Guilty Yet for that he will not Contend with his Lordship the Lord Proprietary in this Part Humbly Submits himself to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Court here that the said Alexander be fined one shilling Current money for his offence afs.d by the Court here adjudged and that the said Alexander be taken &C.a Whereupon into Court here in his Proper Person Came James Freeman of Charles County Joyner & Becomes Pledge and Security for the afs.d Alexander to pay the fine afs.d as also the severall fees arisen due to the officers and ministers of the Court hereby occasion of the Premises
