(240)            November Court Anno Domini 1747

Named Mark Knowles as p the Schedule of Appraisment thereof hereto annext
appears and I have made known to the Garnishee above mentioned that he be &
appear before the Justices afs.d at the time and place within prescribed to shew
Cause why the said Effects so attached in his hands should not be Condemn'd
according to Law before James Keach & Francis Montgomery two Good & lawfull
Men of my Bailywick as I am hereby Commanded

Charles County sst   We the subscribers being summoned & sworn by the
sheriff of the said County to appraise and Value sundry Goods & Effects of a Certain
Mark Knowles and for the use of William Bryan of said County Innholder do
appraise and Value the said Goods and Effects as follows Vizt  Given under our
hands & seals this Twenty Ninth Day of September Anno Domini 1747


To 3 Slayes and Harnes
To 1 single slaye
To 2 ozenbriggs Shirts
To 2 Better shirts
To 4½ yards plains
To a small parcel of old wearing apparel
To 2½ Dozen Dissorted Buttons
To 2 Sticks moth eaton mohair
To 1 New Chest Broken Lock
To 1 Weavers Loom Warping Box & Bares
with 2 Shettles
To 1 old knife horne Comb sissers
To 1 p.r old shoe Buckells

I hereby further Certifie that on the 25th Day of September 1747 I attached in the
hands of Charles Courts as the Effects of the within named Mark Knowles to and
for the use of the said William Bryan the sum of Two Hundred & seventy five Pounds
of Tobacco and in the hands of Thomas Lewis the sum of Six shillings & six pence
current money on the 29.th Day of September afs.d and I have made Known to the
Garnishees abovementioned that they be and appear before the Justices afs.d at the
Time and Place within mentioned to shew Cause why the said Effects so attached
in their hands should not be Condemned according to Law before Sam.l Luckett
William Hagan & William Middleton Jun.r Good & Lawfull men of my Bailywick
                                           So answers                        Sam: Hanson Sher

Charles County ss.t  To the Justices within mentioned I hereby Certifie that by
Virtue of the within Writ to me Directed on the 24.th of October 1747 I attached in the
hands of James Boarman as the Effects of the within Named Mark Knowles
for the Use of the said William Bryan the sum of One Hundred and Sixty pounds
of Tobacco and in the hands of Peter Montgomery for one Hundred and
