  Judgment p Nonsum

Charles County ss.t    William Douglass late of Charles County Planter otherwise Called
                                  William Douglass was summoned to answer unto Nathaniel Gray
                                  of a plea that he render unto him the sum of Eleven Thousand five
                                  Hundred and Twenty six pounds of Tobacco to likeing in Twelve Cash
                                  Convenient to Potomack or Wiccomaco River in Charles County Maryland
                                  which to him he owes and unjustly detains and so forth

And Whereupon the same Nathaniel by Jeremiah Chase his attorney saith
that whereas the said William Douglass by his Writing obligatory on the Thirtieth day of
october in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and forty Six at Charles County
aforesaid bound him self to the said Nathaniel in the said sum of Eleven Thousand five
Hundred and Twenty six pounds of Tobacco to likeing in Twelve Cash Convenient to
Potomack or Wiccomica River in Charles County Maryland to be paid to the said Nath.l
where ever after the said William should be thereunto requested  Nevertheless the said
William altho often Required hath not paid to the said Nathaniel the said sum of Eleven Thous.d
five Hundred and Twenty six pounds of Tobacco as aforesaid nor any part thereof but hither to
altogether hath and still doth Refuse to pay the same to the Damage of the said Nathaniel
Twenty Thousand pounds of Tobacco Qualified as afs.d and therefore he brings suit &
brings here into Court the said Writing obligatory which gives sufficient proof of the Debt
the date whereof is the day and year above mentioned                                       John Doe

                                                             Whereupon into Court here in his Proper person
Comes William Middleton of Charles County Merchant and becomes pledge and Sec.y
for the said William Douglass that if it should happen the said Wm Douglass in the plea afs.d should
be Convict that then the said Wm Middleton Yeilded and Granted that as well the
Debt aforesaid as all Costs which to the said Nathaniel in this part should be adjudged
of his Lands & Chattles should be made and levied to and for the use of the said Nath.l
that if it should happen that the said W.m Douglass the Debt & Costs afs.d to the said Nath.l
should not pay or his body into the Custody of the sheriff by Reason thereof Render

And the said William Douglass by Henry Darnall his attorney Comes & Defends the force &
Injury when &C.a and prays leave thereof to Imparle hereto until the Next Court to be
holden at Charles Town on the second Tuesday in august next and he hath it and the
same day is given to the same Nathaniel here &Ca
                                                                         At which day to wit the Second Tuesday
in august afs.d Comes here as well the said Nathaniel as the said W.m by their attorneys
aforesaid and the said W.m by his said attorney prays further leave to Imparle hereto
until the Next Court to be holden at Charles Town on the second Tuesday in November
Next and he has it and the same day is given to the same W.m here &Ca

                                                                   And now here at this day to wit the second
Tuesday in November afs.d Came as well the said W.m as the said Nathaniel by their attorneys
afs.d and the said Nathaniel by his attorney afs.d prays that the said W.m to his Declaration
afs.d against him may answer and the said William by his attorney afs.d comes and
