(150) August Court Anno Domini 1747 Therefore it is Considered that the said Isaac Slayden be fined Six Hundred Pounds of Tobacco or Thirty Shillings Current money for his offence afs.d by the Court here adjudged according to the form force and Effect of the act of Assembly in such Cases late made and Provided and that the said Isaac be taken &C.a Whereupon into Court here in his Proper Person Comes Richard [illegible] of Charles County Gentleman and becomes Pledge and Security for the said Isaac to Pay the fine afs.d as also the several fees arisen due to the officers and ministers of the Court here by occasion of the Premises Whereupon it is by the Court here further Considered that the s.d Isaac Slayden do serve his master Richard [illegible] four months and five Days Inconsideration of his paying the several fees arisen due to the officers and ministers of the Court Ruled that the said Isaac Slayden Recognize in the sum of Forty Pounds Current money of Maryland with one security in the sum of Twenty Pounds Like money to keep the County of Charles Clear from any Burthen of the said Bastard Child whereof he is this day Convict Whereupon into Court here in his Proper Person Comes the said Isaac Slayden and acknowledged himself to owe and stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary in the sum of Forty Pounds Current money of Maryland and also in like manner Came John Bangham of same County and acknowledged himself to owe and Stand Justly Indebted unto his said Lordship in the sum of Twenty Pounds like money which sums they and each of them severally Yeilded and Granted should be made and Levied on their and each of their Body's Goods or Chattles Lands or Tenements for the use of his said Lordship his Heirs and Successors On Condition that the said Isaac Slayden do keep harmless and Indemnified the County of Charles from any Burthen of a Bastard Child he be got on the body of Philis Calvert whereof he was this day Convict
Be it Remembered that on this day to wit the Second Tuesday in August for said Henry Darnall Esq.r his Lordships attorney Attorney General Ore Tenus Informs and Gives the Court here to understand that the said Philis Calvert was and still is Guilty of Barring a Bastard Child and Prays the advice of the Court therein Therefore it is Considered that the said Philis Calvert be fined or suffer Corporal Punishment according to the Directions of the act of Assembly in such Cases late made and Provided and for that the said Philis Calvert Cannot Pay or Precure any body to be security for the Fine (afs.d) |
