(136) August Court Anno Domini 1747
Be it Remembered that on this day to wit the Second Tuesday in March afs.d into Court herein his Proper Person Comes W.m Douglass of Charles County Planter according to the Tenor of a Certain Recognizance taken before the Worshipfull Mr Robert Yates one of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for the County afs.d that is to Say the said William Douglass in the sum of Ten Pounds Current Money Each together with Philip Jenkins of the said County Planter his main Pernor In the Sum of Ten Pounds Like money for his the said William Douglass Appearance to answer &C.a and not to depart &Ca Whereupon Henry Darnall Esq.r his Lordships Attorney General Ore Tenus Informs and gives the Court here understand^s^ that the said William Douglass was and still is Guilty of breaking his Lordships Peace upon the body of Alexander Mckinzie and Prays the advice of the Court therein Thereupon the said William Douglass Present herein Court as afs.d ^he^ being asked wether he be Guilty of the Premises above on him Imposed saith that he is in no wise thereof Guilty but for that he will not Contend with his Lordship the Lord Proprietary in that behalf Humbly submits himself to the Court Therefore it is Considered that the said William Douglass be fined one shilling Current money for his offence aforesaid by the Court here adjudged and that the said William Douglass be taken &Ca Whereupon into Court here in his Proper Person Comes Thomas Hungerford of Charles County Gentleman and becomes Pledge and security for the said William Douglas to Pay the fine aforesaid as also the several fees arisen due to the officers and ministers of the Court here by occasion of the Premises Susanah Jenkins by her Petition to the Court here has an old Negroe man Named Tom set levy free for the Insuing year & the future William Middleton Prefers to the Court here the following Petition Vizt To the Worshipfull ^the^ Justices of Charles County Court now sitting The Petition of William Middleton Humbly Sheweth That your Petitioner is seis'd & Possessed of a moiety of a Tract or Parcel of Land lying in Charles County afs.d called Partners Purchase your Petitioner therefore Humbly Prays your Worships will be Pleased to order a Commission to Prove and Perpetuate the Bounds thereof and he as in Duty bound will ever Pray and so forth Wm Middleton Whereupon it is ordered that Commission Issue Returnable ^here^ &C.a Robert Yates W.m Penn Arthur Lee & Thomas Hungerford or any three or Two of them to Examine evidences touching the bounds of the said Land agreeable to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in those Cases late made and Provided |
