Lord Proprietary
         vs
Barton Harris


                         Be it Remembered that on this day to wit the
Second Tuesday in August afs.d into Court here in his Proper Person Comes Barton
Harris of Charles County Planter according to the Tenor of a Certain Request
taken before the Worshipfull Mr Robert Yates one of his Lordships Justices of the
Peace for the County afs.d that is to say ^the said^ Barton Harris In the sum of Forty Pounds Current
Money together with Charles Phillpott and Samuel Lewis his main Pernors for
the sum of Twenty Pounds Each Like money each for his the said Barton Harris
appearance to answer &C.a and not to depart &Ca
                                                                Whereupon the said Barton Harris Present
here in Court with Charles Phillpott & Samuel Lewis his main Pernors are acquit
from the force & Effect of his Recognizances are acquitt

Whereupon the said Barton Harris Present here in Court was
ordered to enter unto Recognizance In the sum of Forty Pounds Current
money with Good Security in the sum of Twenty Pounds like money
Each for his the said Harris's appearance at the Next of Oyer & Terminer
Nisiprius & Gaol Delivery then and there to answer such matters as
shal be objected against him on behalf of his Lordship Keep the peace & be
of Good Behaviour Stand to and abide the Judgment of said Court and
not depart without leave thereof
                                                    Whereupon into Court here in his proper
Person Comes the afs.d Barton Harris and acknowledged himself to owe
and stand Justly Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord Propry In the Sum of
Forty Pounds Current money of Maryland and also in like manner Come
Charles Philpott & Peter Fitzgerrald and acknowledged themselves to owe
and stand Justly Indebted unto his said Lordship in the sum of Twenty
Pounds like money each which sums they and every of them severally
yeilded and Granted should be made & levied of their & every of their bodys Goods &
Chattles Lands & Tenements for the use of his s.d Lordship his Heirs & successors
On Condition that the said Barton Harris do and shall make his personal
appearance here before the Judges of Assize Nisiprius & Goal Delivery to be holden t
Charles Town on the Twenty first day of September Next to answer unto what
shal be then and there objected against him on behalf of the Lord Proprietary
of and Concerning the Presentment by the Jurors afs.d made & stand to and abide
the Judgment of said Court & not to Depart the Court without leave thereof and
In the meantime Keep the peace and be of good behaviour to all his
Lordships Good People
