give the Justices here to understand and be Informed that Sarah Challie late of all hallows parish in the County af.d the twenty eighth day of may in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty at the parish af.d in the County af.d and within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Comit fornication with a Certain Wheatly Dennis and did permit the same Wheatly then and there to have Carnall knowledge of her body and then and there to beget a bastard Child on the body of her the same Sarah to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the evill example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &.c Whereupon the same Attorney of the said Lord Proprietary prays Advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law in this part against the af.d Sarah Challie may be made to answer the said Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c Thereupon Command is to the sheriffe of the County af.d that he should take ^the said^ Sarah Challie if &.c to answer &.c And now (to witt) at that same Court held for the County af.d at dividing Creek the af.d Seventeenth day of March Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty before the af.d Justices Came the af.d Sarah Challie by William Arbuckle her Attorney According to a Certain Recognizance by her and her Security in this part Acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information af.d saith that he Cannot Cannot deny but that she ^the said Sarah Chaille^ is Guilty of the premisses af.d in the Information af.d Specified above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by the Information af.d above upon her Supposed and maketh oath that a Certain Wheatly Dennis is the begetter of the Child she stands Informed against Whereupon all and singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the af.d Sarah Chaille pay unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary for her fine ^by the Court here upon her Imposed^ for and by Occasion of the premissed by the Court hereupon Imposed whereof in form aforesaid she is Convict thirty shillings Currant money of Maryland and that the said Sarah Chaille be Taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd Whereupon the said Sarah Chaille is Ordered to give Security for the payment of all Fee or Fees due to any person or persons on the Information aforesaid Thereupon a Certain Francis Allen Jun.r present herein Court in his proper person undertook for the said Sarah Chaille and assumed upon himselfe to pay all fee or fees due on the Information afd to any person or persons whatsoever In Case the said Sarah Chaille doth not pay the same &c
Proprietary held for Somerset County (to witt) at dividing Creek in the same County the seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty before John Scott Esq.r and his associates the said Lord Proprietary his Justices of the same County Court and for the same Lord Proprietary |
