66 Seventeen hundred and forty with Force and Arms &c at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a Certain James Ellis in the peace of God and the said Lord proprietary that now is then and there being an assault did make and him the said James then and there did beat Wound and evilly treat so that of his Life it was greatly dispaired and other harms to the same James then and there did to the Grievous damage of him the said James and Contrary to the peace of the Right Honourable the Lord propry that now is his good rulue and Government &c Whereupon the said Attorney of the said Lord proprietary for the same Lord propry prayeth the Advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law in this part may be made against the said William Conner to answer unto the said Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriffe of the ^County afd that he^ should Take the said William Conner if &a to answer &.a And now to witt at that same Court held for the County aforesaid at dividing Creek the aforesaid Seventeenth day of March Ann Dom One thousand seven hundred and forty abovesaid before the aforesaid Justices Came the aforesaid William Conner in his proper person according to a Certain Recognizance by him in this part first acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information aforesaid and saith that he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty of the premisses in the Information afd specified above upon him Imposed in manner and form as by the Information afd above against him supposed and all the premisses in the Information afd Expressly acknowledgeth Whereupon all and singular the premisses afd being seen heard and fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid William Conner pay unto his said Lordship for his fine by the Court here upon him Imposed for and by Occasion of the trespass and assault afd whereof in form afd he is Convict Two Shillings and Six pence Curr.t money of Maryland &a and that the said William Conner be discharged paying fees &a
in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty before John Scott Esq.r and his Associates the same Lord proprietary his Justices of the same ^County^ Court and for the same Lord proprietary doth give the Court here to understand and be Informed that Ann Willet late of Coventry parish in the said County of Somerset Spinster the sixteenth day of Aprill in the year of our Lord one thosuand seven hundred and forty at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain person unknown and did permit the same unknown person then and there to have Carnall knowledge of her body and then and there to beget a bastard Child on the body of her the same Ann to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evill Example of all others ion such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Right Honourable the Lord propry that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &c Whereupon the same Attorney of the same Lord propry for |
