53 Handy Gent now here returned the writt afd in form following vizt thereof endorsed I Do hereby Humbly Certify to the Justices within mentioned that by vertue of the within writt to me directed of the goods and Chattles of the within named Francis Harper and Mary his wife I have made and Levied the sum of seven hundred and fifty six pounds of tobacco (as by the schedule hereunto annexed doth appear) which to the within named James Knight were adjudged agreeable to the Command of the within writt ^and^ the same I have Ready according to the Exigency thereof So Answers John Handy Sher: A Schedule of the Goods and Chattles of Francis Harper and Mary his wife Attached for the use of James Knight and appraised by John Fleming Francis Ottwell Randall Smulling and John Philips being first duely sworn to make a true and just appraisment thereof and have valued them as followeth vizt to witt
thousand seven hundred and forty by us John Fleming Francis Otwell his Randall Smullin, John + Phillips mark Somerset County ss.t Be it Remembred that on the 29 day of July 1740 Came before us the Subscribers two of the Right Honourable the Lord proprietarys Justices of the peace for the County af.d Capt John Handy and M.r Geo: Irving and took the Severall oaths to the Goverment appointed by Act of Assembly and the said John Handy took the accustomed oath of his sheriffe and the said George Irving the oath of under Sheriffe and each of them did Subscribe the test and Oath of Abjuration before Tho.s Gilliss Isaac Handy John Williams Executor of Charles Williams Late of Somerset County being sumoned to appear at this Court in Order to give Security for the Ballance of the Estate of the said Charles Williams according to act of assembly in Such Case made and provided Now to witt this Eighteenth day of November One thousand Seven hundred and forty Came here into Court the said |
