35 Only Examined on the first bounder through my neglect Yet Can prove Others then Cutt down being well known to them some having possessed the Land many years agoe I humbly pray that to perpetuate such Bounders your worships would pleas to Commission such as in your wisdoms you think fitt for that purpose and your petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray The petition aforesaid being read and heard and fully understood It is Considered by the Justices here a Commission Issue to James Martin Samuel Hopkins John Scarbrough and Edmond Hough of Somerset County Gent and that they Execute the Same Commission according to act of assembly in Such Case made and provided &a
County the Nineteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty before Robert King Esq.r and his Associates the said Lord proprietary ^his Justices for the same County Court held for the said Lord Proprietary^ doth give the Court here to understand and be Informed that Cornelius Ready late of Stepney parish in the said County of Somerset Taylor the tenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty nine at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain Mary Gloster and of her body then and there had Carnall Knowledge and a bastard Child on the body of her the same Mary then and there did beget to the High displeasure of Almighty Gody to the Evill Example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Right Honourable the Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &c Whereupon the same Attorney of the same Lord proprietary for the same Lord proprietary prays the Advice of the Court here in the premisses and that due process of Law in this part against the same Cornelius Ready may be made to answer unto the same Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he should take the aforesaid Cornelius Ready if he should be found in his Bailywick and him should safe keep so that he might have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek in and for the County aforesaid the third Tuesday of November then next following to answer unto his said Lordship of and Concerning of the Information afd &a And now to witt the third Tuesday of November being the Eighteenth day of the same month Anno Dom One thousand seven hundred and forty at a Court then held before his Lordships Justices at dividing Creek in and for the County aforesaid Came the aforesaid Cornelius Ready in his proper person and had a hearing of the Information aforesaid and saith that he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty of the premisses aforesaid in the Information afd specified above upon him Imposed in manner and form as by the Information aforesaid above against him Supposed and the premisses afd in the Information afd Expressly acknowledgeth Whereupon all and singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the afd Cornelius Ready pay unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary for his fine by the Court here upon Imposed |
