             November Court                               1740                        31

       Whereupon the said Robert Geddes with John Henry and Samuel Hopkins all of Somerset County Gent ^his securitys^ all present
here in Court ion their proper persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Right Honourable the Lord
Proprietary of Maryland in the full and just sum of Five pounds Current money of the said Province of their bodys Goods or
Chattles Lands or tenements Severally to be made and Levied to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors  If it
happen that the said Robert Geddes doe not pay and Satisfie unto the sheriffe of the County af.d for the time being Fifty
Shillings Current money of the said province af.d yearly and every year he shall keep such Ordinary or house of Entertainment
as af.d &c            Likewise the said Robert Geddes with John Henry and Samuel Hopkins his Securitys all present her
in Court in their proper persons as af.d Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his ^said^ Lordship the Lord proprietary in Forty
pounds Current money of Maryland of their bodys goods or Chattles Lands or tenements Severally to be made and Levied
to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors   If it happen that the said Robert Geddes doe not keep good rules
and orders and doe Suffer Idle loose and disorderly persons to tipple game or Committ disorders or other Irregularities
do his Ordinary or house of Entertainment during the time that he shall keep the same Contrary to the true Intent and
meaning of the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided &c

Lycence & Recognizance
         Thomas Holbrook of Somerset County Inholder Came hereinto Court in

    his proper person and prays that he may be permitted to keep and Ordinary
or house of Entertainment at his dwelling house at Wickacomoco in Somerset County
for the use and Conveniency of the Inhabitants travellers and Strangers as to them Respectively
shall seem meet which is by the Court here unto him granted he giveing Security to Comply with the
act of assembly in such case made and provided &.a

             Whereupon the said Thomas Holbrook with James Martin and Henry Ballard of
Somerset County Gentleman his securitys all present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged
themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the right Honourable the Lord Proprietary of maryland in
the full and just sum of Five pounds Currt money of the said Province of maryland of their bodys
Goods or Chattles Lands or tennements severally to be made and Levied to the use of his said Lordship
his heirs and Successors  If It happen that the said Thomas Holbrook doe not pay and Satisfie
