Sharper a negro man of Isaac Handy being ancient and Infirm and not able to Labour is set Tax free by the Court
here untill Such time as pleas God to raise him to a state of health to Labour &a

          To the Right Worshipfull Justices of Sommerset most Humbly Sheweth that whereas
your petitioner being in great distress accompanied with woefull poverty unable to help myselfe
with Reasonable Releife presumes to Trouble your worships with my sad deplorable Condition beging your favorable
Reliefe to the help of my sad Condition being Old and many Small Children to maintain wherewithall and nothing to
depend on but my hard Labour and unable to perform the Same These are most humbly praying your worships to
Consider my poor Condition and Ease me of the Oppression of tax which I am not able to pay and your most
humble petitioner will in duty bound for ever pray                                             Benjamin Gooden

             The petition aforesaid being read and heard and fully understood and mature deliberation thereupon had
It is Considered that the aforesaid Benjamin Gooden be for the future Tax free as by the petition aforesaid
is praid and that he be allowed One pound of tobacco as an Object &a


    Upon the Motion of John Tunstall of Somerset County Gent thereby praying that his negro woman Sarah
being Ancient and Infirm and past Labour may be Tax free &a

                Therefore it is Considered that the aforesaid John Tunstall be discharge for the future from paying
of Taxes for the aforesaid negro Sarah as aforesaid is praid &a



    Upon the motion of Robert Jenckins Henry Gentleman of Sommerset County thereby setting forth that his
negro woman Sarah is Antient and Infirm and past her Labour and prays that she may be Tax free for
the future &a
                                  Therefore it is Considered that the aforesaid Robert Jenckins Henry be discharged of
and from paying of Taxes for the aforesaid Negro Sarah for the future as aforesaid is praid &a

          This my humble petition I make to your worships with all Submission begging
you will Consider my misfortune and Low condition and release me of the Burthen which is
to hard for me to bear which I hope you will when you hear of my Condition I am Sixty Years Old and it hath
pleased God to afflict me with a pain in my shoulder which proceed from a spell of Sickness that I am not able
to make my Bread so I pray your worships that you will release me from paying of Taxes no more but I
remain your Humble Servant                                                                        Thomas Newton
