236 at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain Violet Davis and of her body then and there had Carnall knowledge and a bastard Child on the body of her the same Violet then and there did beget to the high displeasure of Allmighty God to the evill example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the same Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &c Whereupon the same Attorney of the said Lord proprietary for the same Lord proprietary prays advice of the Court herein the premisses and that due process of Law in this part against the same John Jones may be made to answer unto the said Lord proprietary of and upon the premisses &c Thereupon Command is to the sheriffe of the County af.d that he should take the said John Jones if &c to answer &c And now to witt at that same Court held for the County af.d at dividing Creek this Sixteenth day of march Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty one before the af.d Justices Came the af.d John Jones in his proper person according to a Certain recognizance by him and his Security in this part first acknowledged and had a hearing of the Information af.d and saith that he Cannot deny but that he is guilty of the premisses af.d in the Information af.d specified above upon him Imposed in manner and form as by the Information af.d above against him Supposed and the premisses af.d Expressly Acknowledged &c Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood It is Considered by the Court here that the af.d John Jones pay unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary for his fine by the Court hereupon him Imposed for and by Occasion of the premisses af.d whereof in form af.d he is Convict thirty shillings Curr.t money of Maryland and that the said John Jones be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine af.d &c Whereupon the said John Jones is ordered to give Security to save and keep Indemnified the Justices of the County of Somerset and their Successors from all troubles burthens and Charges that might Accrew by means of the birth and maintainance and bringing up of the Child af.d &c Thereupon the said John Jones with Joseph Jones of Somerset County planter present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the right honourable the Lord proprietary of the province of Maryland in thirty pounds Curr.t money of their bodys Goods or Chattles lands or tenements Severally to be made and Levied to the use of the Inhabitants of the County of Somerset for the time being If it happen that the said John Jones and Joseph Jones their heirs Ex.rs ^and^ Adm.rs or any or either of them doe not from time to time and at all times hereafter acquit discharge and save harmless as well the Justices of Somerset County Court for the time being as allso the Inhabitants of said County of and from all Costs Charges and burthens whatsoever for or by reason of the birth maintainance nourishing and bringing up of the af.d Child and of and from all other suits Charges troubles or demands whatsoever touching or Concerning of the same &c Thereupon the said John Jones is ordered to give security for the payment of all fee or fees due on the |
