fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors af.d unknown and did permit the same unknown
person then and there to have Carnall knowledge of her body and then and there to beget a
bastard Child on the body of her the same Rachell Freeman to the high displeasure of
almighty God to the evill example of all others in such Case offending Contrary to the peace
of the said Lord Proprietary that now is his good Rule and Government and against the
form of the act of assembly in such Case made and provided &.a

                   Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriffe of Somerset County that
he should take the said Rachel Freeman if she should be found in his bailywick and her
should safe keep so that he might have her body before the Justices of his Lordships County
Court of Somerset to be held at diving Creek the third tuesday of March Anno Dom one
thousand seven hundred and forty one to answer unto his said Lordship of the Indictment af.d

                   And Now to witt  At a Court held for the County af.d the third tuesday of March
being the sixteenth day of the same month Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and
forty One before his said Lordships Justices at dividing Creek Came the af.d Rachel Freeman
in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment af.d and saith that she Cannot deny
but that she is guilty of the premisses afd in the Indictment af.d specifyed in manner and form
as by the Indictment af.d above against her supposed and the premisses in the Indictment af.d
expressly acknowledgeth and maketh oath that a Certain Benjamin Derrickson is the begetter
of the bastard Child she stands Indicted for but hath not wherewithall to pay her fine for the fact afd

       Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being seen and by the Justices here fully understood   It is Considered
by the Court here that the afd Rachell Freeman be whipt with ten Strips at the publick whiping post at
dividing in the County afd ^on the Bare back^ well Laid on untill the blood appear  and that she be Taken &.c  Thereupon as to
the Corporall punishment afd he was Commanded

          Whereupon the said Rachell Freeman is Ordered to give Security for the payment of all fee or fees due on
the Indictment afd to any person or persons whatsoever   Thereupon William Friggs of Sommerset County
planter present herein Court in his proper person undertook for the said Rachel Freeman to pay all fee
or fees due to any person or persons whatsoever on the Indictment aforesaid  In case the the said Rachel Freeman
doth not pay the Same &c
