your bailywick and her safe keep so that he might have her body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the third tuesday of March Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and forty to answer unto John Woolford of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a and the same day is given to the af.d John here &.a Att which day here Came the af.d John Woolford by Robert Jenckins Henry his attorney and the sheriffe to witt John Handy Gent now here Returned that he had taken the af.d Sarah Staples whose body hereat the day he had ready to answer the af.d John of the af.d plea as to him it was Commanded Whereupon the af.d Sarah Staples puts in her place William Arbuckle Gent Attorney at Law against the af.d John Woolford of the af.d plea And thereupon at the Request of the parties af.d day is to them now here given untill next Court to be held at dividing Creek in and for the County af.d the third tuesday of June then next Following in the same state as at present saveing to the parties af.d &.a Att which day here Came againe as well the af.d John Woolford as the af.d Sarah Staples by their attorneys af.d And hereupon the said John Woolford Complained of the af.d Sarah Staples in the plea af.d in form Following Somerset ss Sarah Staples late of Somerset County Spinster Administratrix of all and Singular the goods Chattles Rights and Creditts which were of James Staples at the time of his death who dyed Intestate &.c was attached to answer unto John Woolford of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a And Whereupon the same John by Robert Jenckins Henry his attorney Complains that whereas the af.d James in his Life time to witt he xv day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty at Somerset County was Indebted to the af.d John in twenty and two pounds nineteen shillings and nine pence Currt money of maryland for sundry articles properly Chargeable in an account as by an account thereof hereinto Court brought may appear and so thereof Indebted being the af.d James then and there did faithfully promise to pay unto the same John the af.d twenty two pounds nineteen Shillings and nine pence when thereof Afterwards he should be requested and altho the said James in his Life time four pounds Seventeen Shillings part of the said sum of twenty two pounds nineteen shillings and nine Pence |
