212 them directed to the best of their power Sworne before me Thos Williams John Trehern aged fifty nine years or thereabouts deposeth on the holy Avangalist of Almighty God and saith that about forty years agoe he heard a Certain George Lane late of this County deceased and severall other persons say that where now standeth a marked Cedar post which said post is in sight and is a divisionall Bounder on the south side of back creek between Samuel Wilson and William Turpin son of John that there stood a Chestnutt Tree which said Chestnutt was the first bounder of a tract of Land Called Tottonais belonging to a Certain John Turpin late of this County deceased and further this deponant saith that about forty years agoe he was a Clearing of Ground for the above said Geo Lane nigh the head of a branch that is between David Wilsons and William Turpins plantations and at the head of the said Branch there stood a marked Gum which this deponant saith that the above said Geo Lane for bid him the said deponant to Cutt it being to a bounder between him the said Lane and the above said John Turpin and further this deponant saith that the said Gum was the westermost bounder of the above said tract of Land Called Tottonais and further this deponant saith not November 7.th Anno Dom 1741 John Waters (seal) W.m Waters (seal) James Trehorn aged fifty two years or thereabouts deposeth on the holy Avangilist of Almighty God saith that Nigh where now a Ceader post standeth with 5 notches in 2 sides of it which said Ceader post is a divisionall bounder between William Turpin and Samuell Wilson that he heard it reported about 40 years agoe that there stood a bounder of John Turpins Land and further this deponant saith that about 40 years agoe he heard a Certain Geo Lane of this County DD Say at Sundry times that a Certain Great Gum which formerly stood at the head of a Gutt or a Vally which is between David Wilsons and William Turpins from the head of which said Gut or Vally is now marked Ceader post as a divisionall bounder between the above said D Wilson & Turpin where now the said post standeth that there stood the above said Gum that the above said Lane saith ^that^ this Gum was a marked bounded tree between him the said Lane and the said Turpin and that then there appeared notches in the said tree and further this deponant saith not James Trahern 9.br 7.d 1741 John Waters (+) W.m Waters (+) William Turpin aged sixty three years or there abouts deposeth the holy Avangilist of Almighty God and saith that about twenty years agoe in Company with a Company of people who was Enquiering for the bounders of a ^Certain^ tract of Land back creek belonging to his brother John Turpin late of this County deceased and that then he the said deponant saith that his brother Sollomon Turpin late of Dorsett County diceased did as he heard it reported by the said Company of people prove that where now a Ceader post standeth which said Ceader post is now in sight and standeth near a Gayle that is in a Divisionall Fence between |
