Somerset County Judicial Records, 1740-1742


	November Court 1741 201 July 21.^st 1741 Then Came Robert Geddes before me the subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the peace for Somerset County and made oath upon the holy Evangelist of almighty God that the above account is Just and true and that he hath Rec.^d no part or parcell Security nor satisfaction for the same no more than Creditt given Sworn before me Jn.^o Scott And the af.^d Richard Knight by George Douglas his attorney Comes and defends the force and Injury when &.^a and prays Leave thereof to Imparle here untill next to be held at deviding Creek in and for the County af.^d the third tuesday of August then next Following and he hath it and the same day is given to the af.^d Robert here also &.^a Att which day here Came againe as well the af.^d Robert Geddes as the af.^d Richard Knight by their attorneys af.^d and hereupon the said Richard Knight as before defends the force and Injury when &.^a and says that he did not assume upon himself in manner and form as the afd Robert above against him hath Complained and of this he puts himself on the Country Att which day here Came againe as well the af.^d Robert Geddes as the af.^d Richard Knight by their attorneys af.^d And hereupon the said Robert Geddes prays further Leave thereof to Imparle here unto untill the next Court to be held at deviding Creek in and for the County af.^d the third tuesday of November then next Following and he hath it and the same day is given to the af.^d Richard here also &.^a Att which day here Came againe as well the af.^d Robert Geddes as the af.^d Richard Knight by their attorneys af.^d and hereupon the said Richard Knight Relinqueseth his Verification by him af.^d above pretended and saith that he Cannot deny the action af.^d of the af.^d Robert Geddes nor but that he did assume upon himself in manner and form as the af.^d Robert Geddes above against him hath Complained and as to the damage of the same John by him by Occasion of the premisses in that part sustained the same Charles saith and acknowledgeth that the af.^d Robert hath Sustained damages by Occasion of the premisses beyond his Costs and Charges by him about his suit in that part apposed to Seven pounds Currt money of maryland and not more and because the af.^d Robert denys not this but the same Allegation grants to be true prays Judgment for those damages above acknowledged together with his Costs and Charges af.^d to him to be adjudged Therefore by Consent of the parties af.^d It is Considered that the af.^d Robert Geddes Recover against the af.^d Richard Knight his damages af.^d to the af.^d Seven Pounds Currt money of maryland by the same Richard in form af.^d acknowledged as also three hundred
