201 upon himself did assume and to the same Robert Geddess then and there faithfully promise to pay to him the sum of money af.d Agreeable to the tenor of the note af.d and whereas the af.d Richard the twenty third day of October September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty at Somerset County af.d was also Indebted unto the same Robert Geddess in the sum of five pounds one shilling and one penny Currt money of maryland for sundry Articles properly Chargeable in an Account as by an account thereof hereinto Court brought may appear and the af.d Richard so thereof Indebted being he the af.d Richard in Consideration thereof afterwards (to witt) the same day and year last mentioned at Somerset County af.d upon himself did assume and to the said Robert Geddess then and there faithfully promise that he the af.d Richard the af.d Five pounds one shilling and one penny to the same Robert Geddess when thereof afterwards he should be Requested well and faithfully would pay and Content and and altho' the said Richard as to the af.d sum of Two pounds four shillings and nine pence in the said note Contained and also as three pounds fifteen Shillings and three pence of the af.d five pounds one shilling and one penny Residue the severall promisses and assumptions af.d in manner and form af.d made little Regarding but minding and fraudulently intending the same Robert Geddess in that part Craftilly and Suttlely to deceive and defraud the af.d Two pounds four shillings and nine pence and the af.d sum of three pounds fifteen shillings and three pence Residue as af.d or any penny of Esther the two last mentioned sums unto the same Robert Geddes altho' the same to do the said Richard Afterwards (to witt) the first day of December in the year af.d and often since that time at Somerset County af.d was by the said Robert Gaddess Requested hath not paid or him for the same in any sort Contented but the same to bim to pay hetherto altogether hath Refused and still doth refuse to the damage of the said Robert Geddess ten pounds Currt money of maryland and thereof he brings suit &.a Pledges &.a J Doe and R Roe
