177 the Inhabitants travellers and strangers as to them respectively shall seem meet which is by the Court hereunto him granted he giveing Security to Comply with the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided &c Whereupon the same John Atkinson with John Dennis J.r and John Sheldon all of Somerset County planters his Securities all present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the right Honourable the Lord proprietary of Maryland in the full and Just sum of Five pounds Currant money of said province of their bodys goods or Chattles lands or tenements Severally to be made and Levied to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors If it happen that the said John Atkinson doe not pay and satisfie unto the sheriffe of the County af.d for the time being Fifty shillings Currant money of the province af.d Yearly and every Year he shall keep such Ordinary or house of Entertainment as af.d &c Likewise the same John Atkinson with the af.d John Dennis J.r and John Sheldon his Securitys af.d all present herein Court in their proper persons as af.d Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his said Lordship the Lord proprietary in Forty pounds Currant money of Maryland of their bodys goods or Chattles Lands or tenements severall to be made and Levied to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors if it happen that the said John Atkinson doe n ot keep good rules and orders and do Suffer Idle loose and disorderly persons to tipple game or Commit disorders or other Irregularities in his ordinary or house or Entertainment during the time that he shall keep the same Contrary to the true Intent and meaning of the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided &c
and discharge your petitioner from paying of taxes and your petitioner in duty bound shall Ever pray The petition aforesaid being Read and heard and fully understood and mature deliberation thereupon had It is Considered by the Court here that the aforesaid William Porter be discharged from paying of Taxes for the future and allowed One pound of tobacco as an Object &c Major George Gale Came here into Court in his proper person and prays that Whereas he hath a negro woman ^Called Jenny^ that is Ancient and Infirm and past her Labour that he may be discharged from paying of Taxes for the afd negro woman &a Whereupon it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Geo Gale be discharged from ye paying of Taxes for the afd negro Jenny ^for the future^ as afd is praid &c
