          November Court                   1741                    176

       Whereupon the same Heber Whittingham with Samuel Wilson and Henry Ballard all of Somerset County Gentlemen
his Securitys all present herein Court in ^their^ his proper persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the right Honrble
the Lord proprietary of Maryland in the full and Just sum of Five pounds Currant money of said province of their bodys goods
or Chattles Lands or tenements severally to be made and Levied to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors if it happen
that the said Heber Whittingham doe not pay and satisfie unto the sheriffe of the County for the time being Fifty shillings Curr.t money
of the province af.d Yearly and every year he shall keep such ordinary or house of entertainment as af.d &c

                   Likewise the same Heber Whittingham with the af.d Samuel Wilson and Henry Ballard his Securitys af.d all present
herein Court in their proper persons as af.d Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his said Lordship the Lord proprietary in forty pounds
Currant money of Maryland of their bodys goods or Chattles Lands or tenements severally to be made and Levied to the use of his said
Lordship his heirs and Successors if it happen that the said Heber Whittingham doe not keep good rules and orders and do suffer
Idle loose and disorderly persons to tipple game or Commit disorders or other Irregularrrites in his ordinary or house of
Entertainment during the time that he shall keep the same Contrary to the true Intent and meaning of the Act of Assembly in
such Case made and provided &c

Lycence and recognizance
Jonathan Sturges of Somerset County Inholder Came hereinto Court in his proper person and prays that he
may be permitted to keep an ordinary or house of Entertainment in the County af.d for the Use and Conveniency of
the Inhabitants travellers and strangers as to them respectively shall seem meet which is by the Court hereunto him granted he giveing
Security to Comply with the Act of Assembly in such Case made and provided &c

                         Whereupon the same Jonathan Sturges with John Johnson and Elias Evans all of Somerset County planters his
Securitys all present here in Court in their proper persons Acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the right Honrble the
Lord proprietary of Maryland in the full and Just sum of Five pounds Currant money of said province of their bodys goods or Chattles
Lands or tenements severally to be made and Levied to the use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors if it happen that the said
