Thomas Maddox Chose
Thomas Maddox his
Guardian

    Thomas Maddox (son of Lazarus Maddox Late of Somerset County decd) an
orphan Being above the age of fourteen Years Came hereinto Court in his proper                                                                
                    person and prays that he may be admitted to Chose a Certain Thomas Maddox the Elder
    as his Guardian which is by the Court hereunto him Granted &.c  Thereupon the said Thomas
    Maddox the Younger present here in Court makes Choice of the said Thomas Maddox the Elder as his
    Guardian &.c  Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court here that a Certain William Fordred deliver
    up unto the afd Thomas Maddox the Elder all the Estate of the said Thomas Maddox the Younger that
    he hath in his hands both real and personall and Likewise it is further Ordered by the Court
    here that the said Thomas Maddox the Elder give good security for to Comply with the Guardianship
    afd &.c  Thereupon the said Thomas Maddox the Elder with Stephen Horsey and John Milburn
    of Somerset County planters all present herein Court in their proper persons acknowledged themselves
    Indebted unto the said Thomas Maddox the Younger ^in^ One hundred pounds Sterling Good
    and Lawfull money of England of their bodyes goods or Chattells Lands or tenements Joyntly
    and severally to the Use of the said Thomas Maddox the Younger his heirs or assignes to be made
    and Levied    If it happen that the said Thomas Maddox the Elder do not Comply with the Law
    in relation to Such Guardianships as afd and do not deliver up unto the said Thomas Maddox
    the Younger his heirs or assignes all his Estate both real and personall (that he shall take into
    his hands and possession) peaceably and quietly when ever the ^same^ shall be Legally required &c

& Recognizance to keep
ordinary
Henry Jarman of Somerset County plan Inholder Came
hereinto Court in his proper person and prays that he ^may^ have the
Liberty to keep an ordinary or hous of Entertainment in Snow hill                                                                                          
        Town in the County afd for the Use and Conveniency of the Inhabitants travellers and
    Strangers as to them respectively shall seem mete which is by the Court hereunto him
    Granted he giving Security according to act of assembly in such Case made and provided &c

                Whereupon the said Henry Jerman with Littleton Townsend and Jonathan Sturges
    both of the County afd planters his Securitys all present herein Court in their proper persons
    acknowledged themselves Indebted unto his Lordship the Lord proprietary of the
    Province of Maryland in the Sum of five pounds Curr.t money of their goods and Chattells
                                                                                                                                Lands
