he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty of the premisses af.d in the Indictment Specified in manner
and form as by the Indictm.t af.d above against him supposed and the premisses af.d
Expressly acknowledgeth but hath not wherewithall to pay his fine for the fact afd but puts himselfe
upon the favour of the Court  Whereupon all and Singular the premisses being seen and by the Court here fully understood
It is Considered that the afd John Whitehead be whipt at the publick whiping post at dividing Creek for the County
afd with five Stripes on the Bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear and that the said John Whitehead be
taken &c  And thereupon as to the Corporall punishment afd Command is Given to the Sheriff of Somerset County
that he do thereof Immediate Execution by whiping of the afd John Whitehead at the publick whiping post with
five Stripes on the Bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear it being adjudged satisfaction for the
Offence afd &c  and afterwards in the Same Court Came the Said Sheriffe and returned that he had done the
Execution of the Judgm.t afd as to the Corporall punishment afd he was Commanded &c  and for as much as it appears
to the Court here that the said John Whitehead is a Servant to a Certain John Newbold &c  thereupon the said John Whitehead
is remanded by the Court to his said masters Service &c

Somerset ss.t  Memorandum at a Sessions of the peace of his Lordship the Right
Honrble the Lord proprietary of the province of Maryland held at dividing Creek
in Somerset County on the third tuesday of march to witt the fifteenth day of
the same month Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty six before John Smith
Gen.t and others his associates Justices of his the said Lord Proprietary the peace in the
County af.d to Conserve and also divers Felonies trespasses and other Malefeaseances in the
the same County Committed to hear and determine assigned by the oath of Alexander Lackie
and twelve others being presented that Sarah Thomson Late of Somerset parish in the
County af.d Spinster the first day of March Anno Dom seventeen hundred thirty and six
at the parish af.d in the County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court did commit fornication
with a Certain person to the Jurors af.d unknown and did permit the same those
unknown person then and to have carnal knowledge of her body and to beget then and
there a basterd Child on the body of her the same Sarah to the high displeasure of almighty
god to the evil example of all others in such case offending contrary to the peace of
the said Lord proprietary that now is his good Rule and Government and against the form
of the act of assembly in such case Lately made and provided &c  By which it was Commanded
the sheriff of Somerset County that he should take the said Sarah Thomson Late of Somerset
parish if she should be found in his bailywick and her should safe keep so that he might
