against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &a

    Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he
should take the said Jarviss Ballard if &a to answer &a    and afterwards to witt
the twentieth day of June Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred & thirty
Eight at this term before his Lordships Justices at dividing Creek Came the said
Jarviss Ballard Junr according to a Certain Recognizance by him and his Security in
that part before acknowledged and had a hearing of the Indictment aforesaid
by Francis Allen his attorney and saith that he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty thereof
and is willing to pay his fine for the fact afd &a   Whereupon all & Singular the
premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood

    It is Considered that the afd Jarviss Ballard Jun.r pay unto his Lordship the
Lord Propritary for his fine by the Court hereupon Him Imposed for and by occasion
of the premisses thirty Shillings Curr.t Money of Maryland (to the Use of the County
afd) and that the said Jarviss Ballard be taken to Satisfie his Lordship of the
fine afd &a

Somerset ss.t  Be it Remembred that Robert Jenckins Henry Attorney
of the Right Honourable the Lord proprietary in this part prosecuteth
doth Come here into the County Court of the same Lord proprietary held
for the same County of Somerset in the Court house at dividing Creek in the
Same County the twentyeth day of June in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred
thirty and eight before Robert King Esqr and his associates Justices of the said Lord proprietary
for the County af.d and doth give the same Justices hereto understand and be informed that Ann
Russell Conner late of Coventry parish in the County af.d spinster the tenth day of august Ann Dom
one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven at the parish af.d in the County af.d and within
the Jurisdiction of this Court did Committ fornication with a Certain Lawrence Arnold and did
permit the same Lawrence Arnold then and there to have Carnal Knowledge of her body and
then and there to begett a bastard Child on the body of her the same Ann to the High displeasure
of Almighty God to the evil Example of all other in such Case offending Contrary to the peace of
the said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of
the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided &c   And whereupon the said
attorney of the said Lord proprietary for the said Lord proprietary prays the advise of the
